San Benito County has posted the final recommended budget for fiscal year 2016-17 on the county website to allow the general public a chance to scrutinize what it includes, according to an email announcement from County Clerk Louie Valdez.
There will be a public hearing as part of a special meeting of the San Benito County Board of Supervisors on Monday, June 27 beginning at 9 a.m. If necessary, the meeting will continue June 28 at 1:30 p.m., during which the board will consider adopting the budget.
This action is being taken in accordance with the California Government Code, which states that on or before Sept. 8 of each year, the board shall publish a notice in a newspaper of general circulation stating that: (a) The recommended budget documents are available to members of the public. (b) On the date stated in the notice, not fewer than 10 days after the recommended budget documents are available, and at a time and place also stated in the notice, the board will conduct a public hearing on the recommended budget. (c) Any member of the public may appear at the hearing and be heard regarding any item in the recommended budget or for the inclusion of additional items. (d) All proposals for revisions shall be submitted in writing to the clerk of the board of supervisors before the close of the public hearing.
An electronic copy of the same document is available for public viewing on the public desktop computer in the administrative office lobby of San Benito County, located at 481 Fourth St., first floor, in Hollister.
