The Hollister Firefighters Association Local 3395 has endorsed Wayne Norton for San Benito County Supervisor in District 2.

“Local firefighters know Wayne Norton is a strong advocate for enhanced and efficient public safety,” said Union President Vince Grewohl. “He has the experiences and leadership skills needed to confront the challenges facing San Benito County. He also knows and has what it takes to establish adequate revenue sources for continued funding of essential services.”

The Hollister Fire Department has contracted with San Benito County to provide fire services throughout the county—including staffing stations in Hollister and San Juan Bautista.

“I am extremely proud to have earned the support of county firefighters,” Norton said. “I am grateful for their dedication to the community as first responders in times of emergency. I am dedicated to developing the resources they need to ensure the public’s safety.”

Norton, an elected water board director, has based his campaign on meeting the challenges facing San Benito County families such as traffic congestion, shortage of local jobs, and rising housing costs.

“I have a long history of tackling these tough issues, and, with the help of groups such as the Hollister Firefighters Association, I pledge to do even more,” Norton said. “San Benito County is a special place. Working together, we can preserve our way of life and make sure our children and grandchildren have a brighter tomorrow.”

Norton lives in Aromas with his partner, Leslie Austin. He is a founding member and past president of the Rotary Club of San Juan Bautista, past president of the Aromas Eagles, chair of the county Aging and Long-Term Care Commission, director of the Seniors Council of San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties, and a founding staff member of Anzar High School, a California Distinguished School. He was a member of the committee supporting Measure G to fund road improvements.
