Overnight temperatures dipping into the 20s to lower 30s have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a freeze warning for San Benito County from midnight Saturday, Dec. 17 through 8 a.m. Sunday.
The warning, which also includes the Salinas and East Bay valleys, warns that freezing temperatures can kill unprotected plants and that vulnerable populations and outdoor animals will struggle to keep warm.
A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. "These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation," the weather service said.
