On June 12 and 19, The GardenShoppe is hosting Vino with Vinnie, a chance for residents to shop for a local assortment of wine and beer while supporting an animal-related cause.

The events begin at 3 p.m. to coincide with the Hollister Farmers’ Market, and will go until 10 p.m. when the shop closes.

According to the shop’s event page, 25% of bar proceeds from the events will be donated to animal nonprofit Pet Friends. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but Vincent the dog is on hand and happy to make his ears available for dogless guests to scratch.

Owner Marci Huston adopted Vincent, also known as Vinnie, from Pet Friends a little over a year ago. He is something of a mascot for the shop and serves as a reminder to patrons of the importance of pet adoption and rescue, something Marci and her family are passionate about. Fans of Vincent are encouraged to follow him on Facebook where he can be seen lounging about the shop and patio area often sporting outfits complete with props to coincide with various events and shop happenings.

The GardenShoppe is located at 364 Seventh Street.

Additionally, Pet Friends is hosting “Yappy Hour” at Paine’s Restaurant on June 13 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. An ongoing event, it happens every second Thursday of the month until September. A portion of the proceeds will also go toward Pet Friends’ adoption and rescue efforts.

“For Yappy Hour we were looking at more event options to generate funds for our nonprofit,” said Tiffany Williams, a Pet Friends board member. “A monthly event was discussed and I decided to lead this initiative to create an event where fur loving people could meet, catch up over a drink with their proceeds going to help our adoptable fur-loving babies.”

Other upcoming events related to Pet Friends include the Tacos for Tails event on July 27 at 18th Barrel in San Juan Bautista, an external car wash planned for July, and Pet-a-palooza on Oct. 12.
