Giving Back Starts at Home has been a successful fundraising campaign that supports local nonprofits. Since its inception, this promotion thought up by Michael Anderson nine years ago has donated $103,000 to San Benito County and Los Banos service organizations.

Anderson told BenitoLink, “Giving back to the community has always been a priority for my family. There are many local nonprofits doing great work, but not everyone is familiar with them.”

New residents to the county often aren’t yet familiar with the many nonprofits serving the community.

The fundraiser has dual benefits. Homeowners who purchased a house from Anderson Homes between Oct. 1, 2025 and Dec. 10, 2025 are offered the opportunity to choose from a handful of nonprofits. Once the new homeowner selects their nonprofit, Anderson Family donates $500 to that nonprofit on their behalf.

In 2025, the Anderson Homes team offered the chance to donate to one of these four organizations.

BenitoLink: A local nonprofit news organization covering San Benito County.

Community Foundation for San Benito County: The foundation enhances quality of life for residents in San Benito County through philanthropy.

San Benito County Arts Council:The council provides culturally-relevant and accessible arts programs and services.

Youth Alliance:This nonprofit’s core programming centers youth and empowers them to become leaders in their communities.

BenitoLink  appreciates being included in this local fundraiser and is thankful that Anderson Homes helps residents learn about the many hard-working nonprofits in San Benito County.

“This program connects our family, our homebuyers, and local organizations, while raising both funds and awareness for the important contributions these nonprofits make to the community. We’ve truly enjoyed building these relationships over the years,” Anderson said.

Anderson homes was started by Larry Anderson in 1985 in Lodi, California. This family-run business expanded in 1989, with sons Michael and James joining in. “As a local builder, we understand the communities we invest in and carefully select choice locations near strong schools, parks, recreation, and conveniences. Years later, many of our neighborhoods remain the most desirable and sought-after locations in the community,” their website explains.
