Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital welcomes two new nursing directors to the Emergency Department and the Maternal/Child Health Department; both bringing vast experience and knowledge in their fields.

Marie Iverson, RN, is the new Nursing Director of Maternal Child Health. She has extensive experience in her field, spending the last 43 years in maternal child health in large hospitals with Level III obstetrical units and neo-natal intensive care units.

Iverson said she has a passion for women’s health and has been a manager/director for the majority of her nursing career and most recently served at a Director of Women and Children’s Services at San Joaquin Community Hospital in Bakersfield. She said she fell in love with Hollister when she first drove through the area several months ago and has very happily relocated here.

Jennifer L. Cook, RN, MSN, has taken over the helm in the Emergency Department as the new nursing director. She graduated from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a BSN in 1997 and received her MSN in Nursing Education/Nursing and Healthcare Administration in 2006.

Cook began her career as staff nurse, transitioning into emergency medicine in 2000 and serving in a management position since 2006.  She has worked in large Level I trauma centers, Level II trauma centers, community hospital and critical care hospitals. Cook and her family have relocated to the area from San Antonio.

“We are pleased to have been able to recruit directors of this caliber” stated Lois Owens, vice president of patient care services. “Their skill level and experience are a true asset to our patients and staff in continuing our mission of providing excellent care to our community.”
