Highway 156 paving between Hollister and San Juan Bautista begins Tuesday May 29

Roadwork is expected to be complete on Thursday, June 7. Motorists can expect 20 to 25-minute delays.

Eastbound and westbound State Route 156 will have one-way reversing traffic control from Alameda Road in Hollister to Union Road in San Juan Bautista for two weeks starting Tuesday, May 29 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. for a grind and pave maintenance operation.

Motorists can use Highway 25 and Highway 152 as alternate routes. The roadwork consists of grinding and paving the wheel tracks and paving box due to heavy truck traffic breaking up the asphalt and is necessary to ensure the safety of travelers, according to a Caltrans press release. Roadwork is weekdays only and there will be no work on Friday, June 1.

Roadwork is expected to be complete on Thursday, June 7.

Electronic message boards are expected to be posted to alert motorists of the roadwork, which will be performed by the Caltrans Hollister maintenance crew. Motorists can expect delays of 20 to 25 minutes. California Highway Patrol will be present to assist with traffic control and enforcement.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.
