The Hollister Police Department's Animal Care and Services is offering free micro-chipping for dogs and cats, after receiving a donation of $500 for the purchase of micro-chips from Forgiving Paws Thrift Shop in Hollister.
The micro-chips will be provided free of charge to anyone wanting to microchip their pets. The mission of Forgiving Paws is to raise funds to support life-saving work of animal shelters and rescue groups.
Micro-chipping a pet is a lost pet’s best chance of finding its way home. Ten million pets get lost every year, and without identification, 90 percent of them will never return home.
Locals can obtain a voucher for a free micro-chip at the Animal Care and Services located at 1331 South St., in Hollister. Appointments will be needed to administer the micro-chip for pets. The Animal Care and Service hours are Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. For more information call (831) 636-4320.
