Recently, the City of Hollister began its 2024 City Wide Roadway Improvement Project (Project). The Project will rehabilitate more than 18 lane miles of local streets, upgrade over 40 curb ramps, and reconstruct 588 linear feet of sidewalks. The Project also includes implementation of new striping and pedestrian crosswalks along Memorial Drive to increase safety for students at Sunnyslope Elementary School and patrons of the Veterans Memorial Park. This project will also fully reconstruct certain alleyways within the city streets. The contractor on the project is Mountain Cascade Inc.
The overall purpose is to enhance the safety, functionality, and the longevity of the city’s roadways. Roadways within the Project will be completed in phases resulting in an efficient and expedited schedule for the entire project.
Residents may notice that roadways are worked on periodically throughout the life of the project. For example, permanent street striping must be removed and replaced with temporary paint prior to receiving a slurry seal. Once the roadway is slurry sealed, the permanent striping will be applied. The City of Hollister appreciates the community’s patience during the project which will be completed by February 2025.
