After splitting their first two games in the Northern California Little League All-Star Tournament, the Hollister Little League 10U All-Stars ended their lengthy run through all-star competition by losing 4-3 to the Tri-City Little League 10U All-Stars.
On July 25, the local 10U All-Stars representing Section 5 and District 9 lost 4-3 to District 34 champion Lemoore in the tournament opener.
The local all-stars rebounded with a decisive 14-0 victory over Eel River on July 26 to keep their championship hopes alive.
The next day, after Tri-City scored three runs in the first inning, Hollister got on the scoreboard with a run in the second inning. The local all-stars rallied for two more in the sixth inning but fell one run short as Tri-City held on.
The 2026 Hollister Little League 10U All-Stars ended a 16-year state tournament drought with its 4-1 victory over the Union Little League 10U All-Stars on July 22 to win the Northern California Section 5 title.
The team finished the section tournament with a 4-1 record after going 4-0 in District 9 play to capture the district trophy.
“The 2026 Hollister 10U All-Star season is one that none of us will ever forget,” said Silas Quintero, the 10U All-Stars assistant coach. “While the championships are exciting, they are simply the result of months of hard work, commitment, and preparation. Through countless practices, extra workouts and a willingness to learn, they consistently pushed each other to improve. Their work ethic, coachability, and determination set the foundation for everything they accomplished this summer.”
Quintero said the All-Stars coaching staff credits the success of the team to its players and their outstanding teamwork.
“Every championship run requires outstanding pitching and timely hitting,” Quintero said, “but what truly separated this team from others was their ability to make plays when they mattered most. At the highest levels of Little League tournament play, games are often decided by one or two plays, and time after time these boys rose to the occasion.”
Quintero said the coaching staff also credited the parents of the players for their commitment and support of the team throughout the season.
“To every player, congratulations on an unforgettable season,” he said. “You have represented your families, your teammates, your coaches, and the Hollister community with class, heart, and determination. We are incredibly proud of everything you achieved together.”
Members of the Hollister Little League 10U All-Stars’ District 9 and Section 5 championship team included Rowan Rojas, Endrik Betancourt, Kolton Laubach, Silas Quintero Jr., Rocco Rossi, Nixon Moreno, Jameson Kakebeen, Reece Sharp, Maddox Huerta, Chase Sutton, Aiden Medina and Ethan Zaragoza. The coaches leading the playoff run included Head Coach Kalev Betancourt, and Assistant Coaches Silas Quintero and AJ Moreno.
“Here’s to another great season ahead—and making a run at the 2027 Northern California State Championship,” Quintero said.
