A man shot on Monday, July 14 at about 10:15 p.m. in the 900 block of Prospect Avenue has died from his injuries at a Bay Area trauma hospital, according to the Hollister Police Department. The victim was Daniel Manuel Cadenas, 31, of Hollister.
The Hollister Police Department is actively looking for two suspects. Suspect No. 1 is described as a Hispanic male juvenile, approximately 5’7’, with a medium build wearing a dark hoodie, baseball cap, dark pants and white sneakers. Suspect No. 2 is described as a Hispanic male juvenile, approximately 5’7”, thin build, wearing a white tank top and dark pants.
According to family members, Cadenas, who was known as “Danny Boy” to his friends and family, was in the area walking his dog on his way to the track at Rancho San Justo School. It was a common routine for Daniel, who was very health conscious and loved to play sports, to jog and exercise at the school.
The initial investigation has not revealed any motive for the "senseless incident," according to a press release from the Hollister Police Department, which is asking anyone who witnessed any part of this incident or who may know anything about the shooting to contact the department.
