The Hollister Police Department sent out an Aug. 1 advisory around 2:20 p.m. that a construction crew broke a two-inch natural gas line at the corner of Jan Avenue and Chaparral Court in Hollister. Police sent out a second advisory 40 minutes later stating the gas leak was mitigated.
The Hollister Fire Department, along with police, evacuated residents on Chaparral Court during the leak. Residents were advised to go to an evacuation center at the Veterans Memorial Building.
