In the early morning hours of May 5, 2026, Hollister Police officers arrested a suspect wanted in connection with an Assault with a Deadly Weapon investigation after the suspect vehicle was identified by the department’s FLOCK camera system on the north side of the city.
On May 3, 2026, Hollister Police officers responded to the 1100 block of San Felipe Road regarding an assault investigation. During the investigation, officers alleged that Sylvia Gonzalez, 44, attempted to strike her ex-boyfriend with a vehicle while he was riding a bicycle nearby.
According to investigators, Gonzalez drove dangerously close to the victim as he was riding his bicycle. The victim then stepped off the bicycle but remained holding onto the handlebars when Gonzalez allegedly drove back toward him, striking the bicycle. The bicycle became lodged underneath the suspect vehicle and was dragged a short distance before Gonzalez reversed, dislodged the bicycle and fled the scene. The victim was not injured during the incident.
As part of the follow-up investigation, officers entered the suspect vehicle’s license plate information into the FLOCK Camera System. At approximately 2:00 a.m. on May 5, 2026, Sergeant Bo Leland received an alert indicating the vehicle had been detected on the north side of Hollister. Leland responded to the area, located the vehicle on Santa Ana Road, conducted a traffic stop and ultimately arrested Gonzalez without incident.
Gonzalez was booked into the San Benito County Jail on a charge of Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
