On August 14th at approximately 1:00pm, Hollister Police Detectives arrested a 17 year old male from Morgan Hill for the August 8 murder of Andres Guzman (19 years old) of Hollister.
On August 8, Hollister officers found the victim, Andres Guzman, suffering from at least one stab wound to his upper torso, at the intersection of Fourth and Powell Street. Hollister Fire and AMR administered life saving efforts and transported the victim to Hazel Hawkins Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Hollister Police Detectives have been working non-stop since the initial call-out. Early this morning, Detectives served two search warrants in the City of Hollister and one in the City of San Juan Bautista. The Police Department said that all locations had ties to this investigation. Detectives expect to make more arrests as the investigation continues.
Hollister Police Chief David Westrick said, “I want to personally thank the many community members that have come forward with vital information that has helped our police department in this investigation and thank those people that have helped the victim’s family during this difficult time. We still have a lot of work to do, but it feels better that we can start to afford the member’s of Andy’s family some measure of justice.”
