Hollister residents may experience traffic detours while public works crews undertake construction on Fourth Street, which is expected to be completed by mid-October.

Development Services Director Bryan Swanson said the project is on schedule and has been running smoothly.

Storm drain line installation is complete on College Street between Fourth and Fifth streets, and on Powell Street between Sixth and Seventh streets, Project Coordinator Renee Perales said. Repaving of those roads has begun or will begin soon.

Crews are working to replace sidewalks, gutters, curbs and handicap ramps on Fourth Street.

Lighted crosswalks will be installed where Fourth Street intersects with Line Street and Powell Street.

Swanson and Perales said streets will be closed intermittently when conducting the remaining projects during working hours.

The last part of the Fourth Street project involves landscaping. The city will plant trees and shrubs along both sides of the street.

The city is also working on its Road Rehabilitation Project. The work includes asphalt re-leveling, resurfacing and restriping. There will be adjustments to gutter drains, manhole rims and other fittings.

For West Street, the city will upgrade a sewer pipe that was scheduled for the 2020/21 fiscal year. This will avoid having to cut into the street again in two years.

  • Monterey Street: from South Street to Nash Road
  • Hawkins Street: from San Benito Street to Monterey Street
  • South Street: from San Benito to West Street
  • West Street: from Fourth Street to South Street
  • San Felipe Road: from First to Third Street
  • Flynn Road: from San Felipe Road to Hwy 25
  • Fallon Road: from San Felipe to the City Limit
  • Ladd Lane: from Tres Pinos Road to Southside Road

The Road Rehabilitation Project is scheduled to be completed in October.
