After a decade-long wait, Hollister is set to host the Little League Section 5 11-year-old All-Star tournament at Veterans Memorial Park again.

The five-team Section 5 11-year-old all-star tournament starts on July 11 with games at 6 p.m. at Vets Park. The teams include district all-star tournament champions. The tournament championship game is set for July 16.

The winner of the Section 5 11-year-old tournament will move on to the NorCal State Tournament.

Unfortunately for the hometown 11-year-old all-star team, it just missed out on participating in the tournament after dropping a 2-0 nailbiter to Hartnell Little League of Salinas in the District 9 championship game.

The local 11-year-olds were one of four local all-star teams to make it to their respective age group tournament finales. The Hollister Little League 12-year-old, 10-year-old and 9-year-old all-star teams all won District 9 titles.

The Hollister Little League 12-year-old team is representing District 9 in the Section 5 tournament at Campbell Little League in San Jose. The squad dropped its first contest 12-2 on July 10 and is set to play its next game in the elimination round on July 12.

The Hollister Little League 10-year-old all stars from Hollister will be playing their Section 5 tournament opener on July 11 at 7:30 p.m. at Pajaro Valley Little League’s Ruso Field in Watsonville.

The local 9-year-olds won the District 9 championship in Prunedale but there is no section tournament for that age group.
