The UPS store at 201 McCray St. in Hollister was robbed at gunpoint on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 16, Hollister Police said.
According to a press release, at about 3:42 p.m. a male subject walked into the store, placed a black ski mask over his face, walked to the checkout counter and produced a handgun. Police say the suspect demanded money from the store clerk, took an undisclosed amount of money and ran out of the store.
The store clerk described the subject as a male, 5 feet, 4 inches, about 150 pounds, in his early 20s. He was also described as wearing, khaki pants, a dark hoodie sweatshirt and a black mask. Before the suspect placed the mask over his face, dark marks — possibly tattoos — were seen on both sides of the subject’s eyes, police said. He was also said to be wearing white earphones.
"This robbery is very similar to several robberies that occurred in the same area on January 30, 2017," police said. "The suspect in all three robberies had a very similar physical description, was wearing the same clothing and a black handgun was produced. This is an ongoing investigation and police officers are still speaking to witnesses and anyone in the area that may have seen the suspects."
Anyone with information about the suspect's identity is asked to call Officer Yamamoto at the Hollister Police Department at 636-4330. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call the WeTip hotline at 800-87-CRIME. Information provided to WeTip may qualify for a reward.
