San Benito Stage Company is pleased to present its 2016 Spring Children's Musical, “Honk! Jr.” the Ugly Duckling Musical, April 15-30. Opening night is this Friday, April 15. 

Two preview performances on April 13 to local school audiences were a big success. "This show is really funny," said Alejandro Manzo who plays the reporter JayBird, "It was great having an audience today to laugh."

Besides being a fun musical down in the duck yard, the show has a great message about accepting differences, told in the classic story of the Ugly Duckling. Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.

“Honk! Jr.” performances will be on Friday and Saturday April 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, and 30 at 7p.m., with Saturday and Sunday matinees on April 17, 23, and 24 at 2 p.m. All performances are at The Granada Theatre, 336 Fifth St. in Hollister.
