The Hollister Police Department will receive recognition as Police Department of the Year at the 40th annual national conference of WeTip, to be held on April 19.

WeTip is an anonymous crime reporting resource that allows citizens to aid law enforcement through anonymous crime reports.

Since 2008, the Hollister Police Department has partnered with WeTip to make hotlines available locally for anyone wishing to provide anonymous tips. HPD was the first police department in the history of WeTip to fund membership for the entire county, rather than just the area within Hollister that falls within its jurisdiction.

The announcement of the impending award was delivered to the Hollister City Council by Interim Police Chief Carlos Reynoso during the council’s regular meeting Monday night.

WeTip serves the entire country as well as portions of Canada and Mexico. More information about WeTip is available by going to www.wetip.com, or through the Hollister Police Department website at www.hollister.ca.gov.
