Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area (SVRA) is gearing up to host its seventh annual Geocache Bash on September 22, 2018. This family-friendly event combines 4×4 off-road recreation and geocaching, the global online scavenger hunt, in a day of exciting exploration.
Participants will receive free day admission to the park as they search for newly released geocaches via 4×4 vehicles. With the addition of Mudstone Ranch (non-motorized multiuse trails), geocachers who do not have a 4×4 vehicle available can still participate by searching for caches via hiking or bicycle.
The event cache coordinates will be downloaded via geocaching.com onto participant GPS’s at registration. Each geocache will hold a collective interpretive card specifically designed to promote the parks natural and cultural resources.
To participate in the Geocache Bash, please follow designated signs to Area 5 Group Camp for event registration beginning at 8 a.m. A global positioning system device (GPS) is required to participate. At registration, one official geocache logbook for field use will be issued per registered participant GPS for the event. Due to the topography and tree coverage of the park, smartphone-based GPS can be very spotty.
The geocache hunt will take place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thanks to the park's cooperating association, Hollister Hills Off-Road Association (HORRA) will provide a complementary lunch at 12 p.m.
For additional information, please email the park at [email protected] or call (831) 638-3207. We hope to see you here.
