The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) advises drivers traveling through the US 101 and SR 25 interchange in Gilroy to anticipate potential delays and reduced speeds in the construction zone throughout the week of June 29 through July 3, 2026.

What’s Happening This Week:

Monday, June 29 – Thursday, July 2
Heavy construction equipment will be active in and around the interchange as crews work on the new highway separation bridge foundations. This includes drilling and pouring deep structural piers and delivering large rebar cage assemblies to the construction zone. Expect increased truck traffic entering and exiting the work area.

Monday, June 29 – Thursday, July 2
Electrical installation crews will be working along the corridor within the interchange.

All Week:

The newly poured connector bridge deck between US 101 and SR 25 is undergoing its concrete curing (hardening) process. While this does not involve heavy equipment activity, the work zone remains active, and lane restrictions associated with previous bridge construction remain in effect.

Wednesday, July 1
A required stormwater and erosion control inspection will take place on-site. This is a
routine environmental compliance activity and is not expected to affect traffic directly.
What Drivers Should Know

  • Reduce your speed when approaching and traveling through the construction zone.
Posted construction speed limits are enforced.
  • Allow extra travel time, particularly during morning and afternoon commute hours,
when construction equipment and material delivery trucks may be entering or exiting the work area.
  • Watch for construction vehicles making slow turns and wide movements near the
    interchange ramps and highway shoulders.
  • Follow all posted signage and directions from flaggers and traffic control personnel
    on-site.
  • There are no on/off-ramp closures for detours scheduled at this time.

July 4th Weekend
Construction activity is expected to be reduced or suspended on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. However, existing traffic control equipment, barriers, and lane restrictions may remain in place throughout the holiday weekend even when workers are not present.

Drive carefully through the construction zone at all times, even when crews are not visible.
