Just Not Close Enough

Well, we missed THAT bullet.

The asteroid that skipped through our atmosphere Friday was only fifteen minutes too early from smashing into Earth. It was twice as big as the one that made Meteor Crater in Arizona, which instantly obliterated everything within 500 miles from where it plopped and sent ejecta of dirt and space rock into the sky.

Had it come in just a little slower, instead of the 30,000 miles a second that it was going, it could have stopped the Republican Teabaggers in their tracks from prattling on about their love of vaginal probes, assault machine guns, and their “silent” filibusters preventing ruined survivors of Hurricane Sandy from getting a sandwich.

Damn it all.

And speaking of meteor craters, why is that the east road lines of San Benito just get worse and worse? The potholes on New Idria Road and throughout Panoche Valley on Panoche Road are three-feet wide, two-feet deep.

I did a supply run the other day. And when I got home I had no tires. All four had flapped off into that good dark night, and not gently, and I was riding on metal rims. No. I don’t fix flats anymore. I did my time. I am a dame. Dames pretend we know nothing about nothing about birthing no tires. I don’t give a damn if I ruined the rims. And I creaked home…sparks flaming behind me as the metal rims thudded into every pothole.

Our resourceful neighbor at the Ashurst Ranch, some four miles downstream, made a new road on the shoulder, on the dirt. We call it “Jose’s Way,” and it is as smooth as a newborn baby’s ass…. Hmmmmm, much like the perfect road called Airline Highway, on the “landed gentry” west side of the county. The one that goes past the Pinnacles National PARK, as it is now known.

Can you see which side the paid politicians’ butter is spread on?

But we will go on, despite our extorted property taxes, and here is a beautiful little 2-minute video that my friend Cyndi Dies Ackermann made regarding life in New Idria. It features Woods Ranch proprietor Kemp Woods and our dog Pork Chop.

She asked me to place this “disclaimer on it”: Disclaimer Excuse: I was filming in 20 something degree weather. So, the camera was not operating properly. I think I froze its cooling system… Up top, there were no puddles but many brown brittle ice sculptures.
