The Hollister Police Department announced Friday, March 8 that it identified and arrested a suspect for a recent convenience store robbery.
According to a news release provided by the police department, on Feb. 16 at about 5:45 a.m., an unknown male entered the Quik Stop at 10 San Felipe Road in Hollister. The release said the person pointed a handgun at one of the store employees and demanded money. The clerk complied with the male’s demands and the person fled with an undisclosed amount of money, the release said.
Hollister Police detectives and officers said they received numerous tips following the incident. Officers conducted more interviews, and detectives followed up on forensic evidence in the case. On March 5, detectives were able to obtain a warrant for the arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile believed to be responsible for the crime, the release states.
Police said that before the warrant was even fully processed and entered in state databases, the suspect fled from probation officers. The suspect was arrested shortly thereafter in the 300 block of Tres Pinos Road and questioned by detectives, the release said, and was allegedly wearing shoes like those depicted in the surveillance photographs from the night of the incident.
Police charged the juvenile suspect with armed robbery.
In the release, the Hollister Police Department thanked the citizens who provided information leading to the arrest.
