There’s exciting news for our community; Kinship Center has opened up an office in the Ross building in downtown Hollister. The office is located in the Ross Building at 345 5th Street, Suite #17 near City Hall.

Kinship will be recruiting new families in San Benito County who want to adopt or be a resource (foster) family to children who have been removed from their families of origin. They will also provide pre-approval training to those families who are hoping to be a resource to children providing temporary foster care or permanent adoption, and once a month on-going training and support for post-approval families.

Kinship Center has provided excellent training services to foster and adoptive families for years, but the families in San Benito County have had to go out of town for the training. This has led to many of our foster children in our community having to get placed outside of our county because we don’t have enough foster families to place them locally. If a child is able to stay local, they keep their school ties and friends; a much better situation for the child.

The local chapter that supports Kinship Center is called Gabilan Chapter Kinship Center. It raises money annually for adoptive and foster care in San Benito County by putting on a very popular wine and food tasting event in September.
