Hollister Police officers and San Benito Sheriff’s deputies arrested a subject alleged to have stolen a vehicle from the 300 block of Nash and was apprehended after a vehicle pursuit that ended in San Benito County. The subject is also alleged to have had items that were stolen from the victim’s residence earlier in the week. Â
At about 2:25 p.m. on April 16, a residential burglary occurred in the 300 block of Nash Road. The suspect(s) forced entry into the victim’s home through a window and stole approximately $2,500 worth of items from the victim’s residence. During the burglary the suspect also stole the victim’s wallet and vehicle keys.
At about 1:42 a.m. on April 19, the victim of the residential burglary called 9-1-1 to report someone was stealing his vehicle. Hollister Police officers and San Benito Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area. The victim’s vehicle was located and a vehicle pursuit ensued. Hollister Police and San Benito Sheriff’s pursued the vehicle to the 2000 block of Salinas Road. The suspect fled the vehicle on foot and was apprehended a short distance later. In the suspect’s pocket was the victim’s wallet and identification which was stolen earlier in the week. The victim’s vehicle and recovered property was turned back over to the victim.
The suspect was lodged at the San Benito County jail on charges including residential burglary, vehicle theft, evading a peace officer in a reckless manner, conspiracy, and possession of stolen property.
