The San Benito County Free Library announced in a press release that its previous website address has been purchased by a "third-party not affiliated with the county," which turns out to be an pornographic website.
"The County discontinued use of the old domain in accordance with the terms of the agreement with the Internet Service Provider," the release from County Administrative Officer Ray Espinosa's office noted. "San Benito County does not own and in no way endorses the use of the previous internet domain site or any redirection from that site."
The library's site is separate from the county site, officials noted, so no other county Web domains were affected. The library's new address http://www.sbcfl.org "is currently being set up and will be fully functional in the near future," the release said.
The county, officials say, "is actively attempting to resolve this issue and is looking into what legal options it may have."
