Adela Castillo born in Fresno California on July 12, 1926. passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 7, 2018.
Adela worked hard her whole life. In her earlier years, she followed the seasonal harvest of crops. Field work meant she traveled all the state throughout Northern, Central and Southern California. Living in various cities, she always had fond memories of living and working in San Juan Bautista where she made friend that lasted a lifetime.
In the early 80s she bought a little corner restaurant called The Hound Dog in Salinas, CA. After finding better success cooking mexican food, she later changed the name to The Burrito Hut. It was a popular little Alisal spot in Salinas, which she eventually expanded adding on a dining room. The Burrito Hut catered at many events like weddings, parties, and various organizations in Monterey county. She was well known in Hollister for her catering which included local events with MACE, LULAC and several other organizations.
Adela is survived by her children Carmen Ortega (Zacarias), Grace Regino (David), Jesse Escobedo (Rachel), Nellie Garibay (Gavi). She is survived by 10 grandchildren, brother Eliseo Castillo and sister Mickie Luna, many nephews and nieces. Preceeded in death by son Raul Roacho, her mother, Anita Castillo, brothers Ray, Frank, Jesse Castillo, Abram, Abel Alvarez, sisters Eva and Lydia Alvarez.
Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life is on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 1:00pm, at the Iglesia de Dios 1001 Nash Road, Hollister, CA 95023. Presiding the Memorial Celebration will be nephew and Pastor, Ernie Castillo, Water of Life Church.
