April 24, 1931 – January 28, 2026

Adeline Barbara Rianda age 94 of Hollister, CA passed away on January 28, 2026 at Hazel Hawkins Hospital in Hollister, CA. Memorial service will be held at Immaculate Conception Church Tres Pinos, CA. on Monday May 11 at 10:00 am with Father Heibar Castaneda presiding.

There will not be a public burial, but a celebration of life will follow at Paine’s Restaurant in Hollister.

Adeline was born at the Brown’s Valley ranch near Paicines, CA to Antone and Adelaide Caldera on April 24, 1931. She went to local schools, even riding horseback to Cottonwood School through the fifth grade with her brother and sister. She graduated from Hollister High School in 1949. She married Ralph Rianda Sr. in 1956 and while being a busy ranch wife and mother to four young children, she also served on the school board at Southside School. Adeline later worked as a seed analyst for over 40 years for several vegetable seed companies, finally retiring at the age of 85 from Germains Seed Technology in Gilroy.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Rianda Sr. and her brother Richard Caldera. She is survived by her children Ralph Rianda Jr. (Marilee) of Shelbyville, TN, Robin Brown and Ross Rianda (Marlene) of Hollister and Rachelle Rianda of Atascadero, CA, her sister Doris Riley of Overland Park, KS, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Adeline was an amazing mother and grandmother from raising four teenagers on her own to traveling the state to watch her children and grandchildren compete in rodeos and other athletic events. She will be missed by all.
