Passed Away On: March 26 2022
Betty Patterson Bucci, 60 of Hollister California passed away March 26 2022 after a six year battle with cancer. She was born in San Jose California April 2 1961 and attended Blackford High School and graduated from California State University-Sacramento in 1983.
She joined IBM right out of college and had a very successful career becoming the first woman and the youngest IBM Distinguished Engineer and IMS Chief Architect.
Betty was an amateur pilot and enjoyed flying. She held a commercial license with single and multi-engine land and sea ratings. She was involved with WITI – Women in Technology International, MainframeZone, Mainframe Experts Network, System z Advocates, Aircraft Owners and Pilots, DB2 for z/OS, The Ninety-Nines, Inc., International Organization of Women Pilots, and IMS Global.
Betty enjoyed traveling with her husband for vacations including overseas and was a good gardener raising fruit and vegetables.
She was preceded in death by her parents Pat and Evon Patterson and is survived by her husband Fred and sisters Bonnie and Barbara and brother Bob.
