Frank A. Friedman passed comfortably in his sleep on June 2nd, 2026, two days after his 93rd birthday, in Overland Park, KS. He grew up in NY City and Los Angeles and graduated USC with a PharmD. Frank taught chemistry at Venice High School, worked as a pharmacist, became a practitioner of Structural Integration, then returned to pharmacy.
He and his wife Joan raised two daughters in Palos Verdes. When he and Joan divorced after 30 years, Frank moved to Hollister, California, where his older daughter Marni had set up her medical practice. There, Frank worked at both Nob Hill and Hazel Hawkins Hospital pharmacies. Upon retirement, Frank moved to Overland Park, Kansas, near his younger daughter Carrie Barton and her family. He took on his most fulfilling work: being a grandparent. He is missed by four grandchildren, his nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Friends and family remember his strong presence, quick mind, huge hugs, expressive face, finicky habits, and his stories that spanned a long, productive life.
In his memory, donations may be made in his name to the AAFP Foundation.
