Passed Away On: April 29, 2022

Amalia Alarcon-Donato passed away April 29, 2022, surrounded by family, she was 75 years old. “Mayito” as she was lovingly referred to, was born in Michoacan, Mexico to Irene Barajas and Agustin Donato. It was in Tijuana, Mexico where she met the love of her life, Perfecto Alarcon. In 1964 they married and in the 1970s they arrived in California. After living in Long Beach, then Gilroy, they finally settled in Hollister, California.

Mayito worked at the tomato cannery and in the apricot orchards of Hollister. Never afraid of a hard days’ work, she worked until retirement to care for her husband while he battled a lengthy illness. She loved having family around, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mayito is survived by her three children, Lupe (Luis) of Hollister, CA, Daniel, Victor (Patricia) of Merced, California, eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three brothers, Emiliano (Irene), Jorge, Ramon (Margie), and two sisters, Rosalinda, and Irene. She is preceded in death by her husband Perfecto of 58 years, and one sister, Lourdes Cordova.
