September 4, 1938 – March 28, 2024

Josephine Ann (Carganilla) Testani, 85 of San Juan Bautista, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2024 after complications with her gastrointestinal system. Born on November 4, 1938 in Porterville, Calfifornia, Josephine was extremely caring, empathetic and a strong advocate and defender of her faith, family and friends.

Her fondest memories included visits to Disneyland, the Testani Family reunions, and enjoying the Aloha Spirit of the Islands of Hawaii. But her family trip to Italy and attending mass at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City was one of her most cherished memories. Josephine was the beloved wife of Art, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. A caring mother to Arthur, John, Mario and Nicole, and a cherished grandmother to Aaron, and a great-grandmother to Ember. She was a pillar of strength and love for her family. Educated at Porterville Junior College, she worked as a California State Hospital medical secretary, an IBM admin assistant, and as secretary at St. Mary Goretti and St. Leo the Great Parish. Josephine loved singing in the church choir and teaching Catechism. She was truly dedicated to her faith and a beloved member of St. Maria Goretti, St. Leo the Great, Mission San Juan Bautista, Sacred Heart Parish, and St Benedict Parish.

In addition, she was also very generous to numerous global causes. Josephine is survived by her husband Art, sons Arthur and John, daughter Nicole, son-in-law Eric, brother Peter, sister-in-law Debbie, grandson Aaron, great-granddaughter Ember and best friend Nellie. She is predeceased by her parents Rudy and Mary, her son Mario and her brothers Abraham, Bruno, and Richard. She will be dearly missed by her friends, extended family members, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. A mass will be held in her honor at St. Benedict in Hollister on April 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. A grave site service will follow immediately where she will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Josephine’s memory to Catholic Charities.
