Engracia was born in Tepatitlan, Jalisco, Mexico to parents Guadalupe Castellanos Gonzalez and Juan Gonzalez on April 3, 1924. She married Jose Gomez in 1942 in Tepatitlan and was widowed in 1954. In 1962, she married Salvador Vargas Agredano in Baja California, Mexico.
Engracia was a dedicated, loving homemaker in Hollister for many years. Her kind and graceful nature was evident in every project she worked on. She loved teaching children, cooking, practicing needlepoint, teaching catechism to children and adults, serving the Lord, and was an avid reader of scripture. Engracia was loved by many and a treasured friend who will be sorely missed.
Engracia is preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe Castellanos Gonzalez and Juan Gonzalez; her husband Jose Gomez, her husband Salvador V. Agredano; her sisters, Hermelinda De La Torre, Aurora Franco, and Magdalena Gonzalez; and her brother, Ignacio Gonzalez.
Engracia is survived by her daughters, Margarita Quezada and husband Francisco; and Irene Agredano and husband Salvador. And by her sons, David Agredano and wife Shannon; Jesus Gomez and wife Rosa; Ruben Gomez and wife Blanca; and Alberto Gomez and wife Rosario. By her step children, Tony Agredano; Jake Agredano; Mary Agredano Garcia and her husband Saul; and Federico Agredano. By her sister, Clementina Corona. By her grandchildren Sal Agredano, Irene Agredano Turturici, Jose Agredano, Yvette Agredano Blackford, Eric Quezada, Aldo Quezada, Jordan Quezada, Kristin Agredano, Alyssa Agredano, Jose Jesus Gomez, Esmeralda Osorio, Ricardo Gomez, Araceli Gomez, Fred Gomez, Peggy Garcia, Rosario Mendez, Daniel Garcia, Noemi Compton, Steve Garcia, and Tanya Agredano. And by her great grandchildren Kayley Agredano, Felicia Turturici, Dominic Turturici, Jose Agredano, Lauren Agredano, Nina Agredano Blackford, Cayden Quezada, Bella Quezada, Abbie Quezada, Cayson Quezada, Jordan Quezada, Nicholas Quezada, Aniesa Osorio, Dominic Osorio, Nathan Osorio, Jayda Jimenez, Ella Jimenez, Fred Gomez Jr., Joaquin Garcia, Camilla Garcia, Ashley Mendez, Jessica Mendez, Ryan Mendez, Erin Garcia, Zachary Compton, Emma Compton, Perseus Ulu, Anaius Ulu, and Paris Ulu.
Pallbearers will be David Agredano, Ruben Gomez, Alberto Gomez, Tony Agredano, Sal Agredano, Eric Quezada, Jose Gomez, and Jaime Garcia.
The family of Maria Engracia wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Father Alberto Cabrera and Mission San Juan Bautista, Father Enrique Herrera, pastor of Holy Trinity Church in Greenfield, and to the Central Coast VNA & Hospice for assisting her daughters with addressing Engracia’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs.
Rosary will be on Wednesday, June 12, at 7:00 PM at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. The Mass will be on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Old Mission San Juan Bautista followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery in Hollister.
