Aromas-San Juan Unified School District Board of Trustees will make provisional appointments to the Board to fill vacancies created by Failure to Elect in Trustee Area 3 and Trustee Area 4. A Failure to Elect occurs when no candidate or an insufficient number of candidates have been nominated and a district election will not be held, so the Board shall appoint a qualified person to the office.
Persons interested in applying for the provisional appointments must submit their application to the District office no later than 4:00pm on Friday, September 25, 2026. Electronic applications will not be accepted.
Candidates must be 18 years of age or older, a citizen of the state, a resident of the school district in Trustee Area 3 or Area 4, a registered voter, and someone who is not disqualified by the Constitution or laws of the State from holding a civil office.
Applications will be reviewed to determine eligibility. Eligible candidates will be interviewed in Open Session on October 7, 2026 at a Special Board meeting. Applications can be found at the District office or on the district website at asjusd.org.
The community is invited to provide input either in writing or in person at the Board meeting on October 7, 2026.
The provisional appointment will be selected with a majority vote of the Board and will be seated during the Reorganizational Board Meeting on Wednesday, December 16, 2026.
