March 19, 1944 – January 7, 2024 Long time San Benito County resident, Robert Dale “Bobby” Clayton passed away in Sparks, Nevada on January 7, 2024 at the age of 79 years. Bobby was the 2 of 10 children born to Robert and Dorotha (Mott) Clayton. He was born in Hollister, CA on March 19 , 1944 and spent most of his childhood years in Paicines, California. When he was in his early teenage years, he and his oldest brother Chuck moved to the Bay Area and worked in the construction industry. Bobby met his wife of 56 years, Gertrude “Trudy” Secatero, in San Francisco and they lived in the Hayward, California area where they raised their four children: daughter Tammy, son Robert “Robbie”, daughter Kimberly and son Christopher “Scooter” Clayton. Bobby continued to work in construction and then truck driving for many years while the family relocated to New Mexico and then to Manteca, California and finally ending up in Reno and then Sparks, Nevada. It should be noted that Bobby and Trudy moved quite frequently to several different cities and states, including a stint in Hawaii. During his lifetime, Bobby was well known for his love of adventure. He enjoyed sky diving, hunting, fishing and skeet shooting where he was known as an excellent shot, winning many competitions. But his greatest joy was his family. He was a wonderful provider and supporter to all of his immediate as well as his extended family. It was well known that he would drive for several hours, just for a short visit. Or call just to say hi or ask a question about an old friend or acquaintance. Robert is survived by his wife Trudy; daughter Tammy Clayton of Gardnerville, Nevada; son Robert “Robbie” Clayton (Diane) of Dayton, Nevada; daughter Kimberly Clayton Lemay (Craig) of Reno, Nevada and Christopher “Scooter” Clayton of Reno. He is also survived by his brother David Clayton of Stockton and five sisters: Ann Wilkerson (Carl) of Creswell, Oregon; Nona Browning (Robert) of Southwest City, Missouri; Carol Kirkpatrick (Arthur) of Hollister, California; Donna Stephens (Jim) of Hollister and Veronica Thurman of Bentonville, Arkansas. 10 Grandchildren: Kiri Clayton, Brittany Oskouie, Josie Burnett, Lise Clayton, Madison Lemay, Seth Lemay, Tyler Clayton, Michael Clayton, Wyatt Jones and Lillian Clayton. Four Great Grandchildren: Julian McCarran, Emberly Burnett, Killian Burnett and Freya Burnett; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by three brothers: Charles “Chuck” Clayton, Johnny Lee Clayton and Allen Clayton and granddaughter Mercedes Mattox.
