Rosemarie (Silva) Winstead was born on April 22, 1935, in Hollister, CA., to the late ThomasĀ and Carmen Silva. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and lovedĀ ones on October 18, 2024, in Laguna Niguel, California. Rosemarie lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for many years. She worked at the U.S. Public Health Hospital in San Francisco, whereĀ she met her late husband James R. Winstead. Rosemarie returned to her hometown of HollisterĀ to live in 1986, where she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Eagles Auxiliary.

She moved with her son, Jim, and his family to Southern California in 2017.Ā Rosemarie is an avid music lover and enjoyed playing the piano and organ.Ā Rosemarie is a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, godmother, and aunt to a host ofĀ nieces and nephews.Ā She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her son James R. Winstead, Jr.; son-in-law RodneyĀ Naccarato-Winstead; her two grandsons: Ezekiel James Winstead and Xavier Lee Winstead;Ā numerous nieces & nephews; and other relatives and friends. She also had a cherishedĀ relationship with her ā€œdaughter of the heartā€ Claudine Martinez-Padilla (Ret. Col. Darian Padilla)Ā of Albuquerque, N.M.Ā Rosemarie was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years: James R. Winstead; herĀ parents: Thomas Silva and Carmen (Flores) Silva; her three sisters: Loretta Rogers, Helen Leftridge, and Edna Guillen; and her five brothers: Ivan Silva, Joe Valdez, Andrew ā€œChoppoā€Ā Silva, Kenneth Silva, and Tom Silva.The family would like to thank Rosemarie’s nieces: Robin Leftridge, Ruth Harris, and TeresaĀ Longoria for their love and support throughout her time of need.Ā 

Family and friends can pay their respects on Monday, October 28, 2024 from 3:30 p.m. until 8p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home, 363 Seventh St., in Hollister. The Rosary will beĀ Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. onĀ Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 680 College St., in Hollister.Ā Interment will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Hollister.Ā Condolences may be offered at www.blackcoopersander.com
