Ruth Taylor Nordstrom, our beloved mother, sister, wife, auntie, friend, and teacher, passed away, peacefully in her home, on August 26, 2023.

She was born on February 1, 1949, in San Francisco, California, to Quentin and Zola Taylor, the fourth of five children. She grew up in the mountains of San Juan Bautista, working alongside her family, playing sports and music. She graduated from San Benito High School and then from Brigham Young University with her teaching degree.

Her life was filled with love for God, her family, and for all she came in contact with. It was often said that she didn’t just greet others with a “hello” but made sure to also hug them. Her hugs are legendary! She graduated from Hollister High School, taught at Cienega school, taught piano lessons, supervised her children teaching swim lessons, taught seminary at church for 7 years, served as the head official for the local swim team, played softball at the Rec, maintained a business with her husband, served in her many church callings, played the organ in church and loved and served her family, neighbors and friends, which really became everyone. She was strong, focused, a talented cook, friendly, brutally honest, down-to-earth, adventurous, faithful, out-going, joyful and always loving. Her life was beautiful and full and set the example of how life should be lived. She would want to be remembered by her abiding faith in God, her fierce love for her family, and her cheering efforts for all.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Darick Nordstrom, her children and their spouses – Leif Nordstrom (Christy), Bjorn Nordstrom (Katie), Kirstin Baxter (Jeff), Lars Nordstrom (Desiree), Britta Foster (David), and their 21 grandchildren, Catherine, Dallin, Isaac, Julia, Grace, Elise, Garrett, Drex, Gavin, Summer, Aliyah, Ellis, Chase, Lia, Miriam, Nicole, Owen, Daniel, Lawrence, Joseph and Lena. She also is survived by her siblings – Kathy Crockett, Sterling Taylor, and Anne Holdaway. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered always.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest brother, Gary Wayne.

Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 10 a.m. at 1670 Cienega Road in Hollister.
