On Saturday, June 6 those attending the San Juan Bautista Living History Days event were given the opportunity to step back in time and learn how life was in the early 1800s.

Participants panned for gold, ground coffee beans with a century-old coffee grinder, children played sticks and hoops and local buildings were open to those hoping to catch a glimpse of life from the early days of San Juan.  Mountain men, Civil War solders, children re-enacting olden time games and more were open throughout the day.

Craft and cooking demonstrations and old fashioned soda was served up in the historic Plaza Hotel Saloon.

The next “Early Days” event is planned for Father’s Day weekend on June 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
