I recently listed a home in Hollister belonging to the Towbridge family.

Jack Towbridge served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Air Corps in World Two. Mr. Towbridge was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Hollister.

Recently, while cleaning out the family home to get it ready to put it on the market for sale, some of Mr. Towbridge’s Masonic brothers found a book belonging to Mr. Towbridge’s mother Alta. Alta Towbridge was a long time teacher in Hollister. During her teaching career she taught at the Ausaymas School.

In one of the many boxes of books in the home was a book presented to schools of the West by the Standard Oil Company of California.

Teachers in conjunction with local Network Radio Stations taught a class on “Musical Portraits of Famous Americans”. In the book we found two pictures drawn by local students tucked in between the pages. The Towbridge family would love to give these drawings back to the students who drew them, or to their families. Our problem is tracking down the two students who were in eighth grade in 1949 at Ausaymas School.

If you know or are related to Richard Raper or Santos Lopez who attended Ausaymas school in this time period please give me a call.
