The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) of San Benito County Council 2890 will host the fourth annual Health Fair on Saturday, Sept. 15th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hollister Community Center, located at 300 West Street in Hollister.

This event will gather families for a day focused on community wellness. LULAC will provide a variety of health screenings, healthy eating options and fun physical activities to celebrate overall healthy lifestyles.

The LULAC Health Fair will have a variety of interactive health provider booths, music, dance and prizes. Some which consist of free services such as eye exams, dental examinations, blood sugar testing, blood pressure testing, as well as a special session at 1 p.m. where residents may provide comments on the current and future health care needs of the community.

The health fair is sponsored by both LULAC in partnership with many community partners who together provide comprehensive health information. Among the many businesses and organizations represented are:

  • San Benito Medical Associates
  • Hazel Hawkins Hospital
  • San Benito County Public Health
  • Jovenes de Antano Senior Services
  • San Benito Health Foundation
  • Hollister Recreation Department
  • Plus many more

“The Health Fair is put on by community and LULAC volunteers and its focus is on the health issues local residents face in San Benito County,” said LULAC Health Fair Committee Chair Dr. Parveen Sharma. “The fair is designed for the care of the entire community.”

The fair is co-sponsored by San Benito Medical Associates (SBMA), a group of local independent physicians in Hollister who provide health care services to the residents of San Benito County, and a grant from the Community Foundation for San Benito County. The group consists of 14 primary physicians and 65 local specialists. SBMA has been a sponsor of the LULAC Health Fair since it’s inception. Both organizations will be at the event throughout the day.
