Diane Diaz Hopkins Insurance awarded two scholarships to San Benito High School students who submitted essays on how they would market an insurance company to consumers. Serena Chavez and Miguel Puga are the recipients of the 2017 DDH Scholarship Award in the amount of $500 each.

Both students met the requirement of laying out social media marketing ideas, representing the platform progressive and forward-thinking companies are targeting. "Everyone uses their smart phones and we want them to know we will meet them where they are at, convenience and meeting their insurance needs is our priority," states owner Diane Diaz Hopkins.

Chavez is headed to Santa Barbara City College to major in Business/Global Studies. Puga will attend U.C. Merced to major in Business/Economics.

In addition to the 2017 scholarship program, Diane Diaz Hopkins Insurance supports and promotes the youth in the community by participating in FFA fundraising, organizing community events to empower women and participating in various organizations that enrich and educate the community.

Diaz Hopkins, a graduate of SBHS, said she is always looking for ways to give back and invest in the youth of San Benito County.

"We know there is a lot of talent in Hollister, especially among our youth. We believe in the future of the youth of San Benito County and their ability as future leaders," she said, noting that her agency would like to thank all the participants who took the time and effort to apply for this scholarship. "Each candidate contributed in creative and well thought through ways. We appreciate all of the applicants and acknowledge their efforts."
