The San Benito County Sheriff's Office on Monday responded to a report of a mountain lion near the Martin Rajkovich Ag Barn at San Benito High School. The cat was briefly seen and then observed going back into the nearby San Benito Riverbed, according to Hollister Police Chief David Westrick, who posted news of the sighting on his Facebook page.
The barn is located at the southwest corner of campus, behind the football stadium.
"We live in a rural county in an area with wildlife," Westrick said, noting that the Department of Fish and Game was also notified. "Please take precautions."
