Movie preview: ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron Trailer’

Marvel Studios releases trailer for anticipated blockbuster film, "Avengers: Age of Ultron"

The first scene of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” opens up with the Avengers and some companions trying to lift Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, at Avengers Tower. Tony Stark, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., attempts to lift Mjolnir but fails. He tries to get help from James Rhodes, played by Don Cheadle, but even together they can’t lift Mjolnir. Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, attempts to lift it and the hammer budges but ultimately he doesn’t lift the hammer. A broken Ultron limps into the room and says, “You’re all puppets tangled in strings…strings” and crushes the head of a robot, possibly the previous suit he had.

A sinister version of the Disney song “I’ve Got No Strings” plays as the trailer continues. Iron Man is looking toward a forest, and we see Captain America most likely stopping a Hydra Base. Next we see police officers shooting at a building and Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, looking at Loki’s staff on a tablet.

We see a shirtless Bruce Banner, portrayed by Mark Ruffalo, running through the woods and then wheels of a lab table moving through a hallway.

The trailer shows Ultron in a possible lair looking at Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olson, and at Quicksilver, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson. It then shows robots flying up the side of a building and Thor,(portrayed by Chris Hemsworth) Captain America, Black Widow, and Hawkeye, played by Jeremy Renner, looking up at something with shocked and frightened faces.

Tony Stark says, “This is the end of the path I started us on.” Possibly he’s hinting about the Civil War story arc. Then it shows Hulk in the town square but his eyes are bloodshot and he looks sick. Iron Man readies his Hulkbuster armor and starts to fight Hulk. Then we see a man who could possibly be Professor Klaw, Black Panther’s vibranium scientist. Next it shows Hulk and Black Widow touching hands, then ballerinas, and then people shooting at Hawkeye. Then Thor grabs Tony Stark by the neck and then it shows Black Widow backing away from something with a frightened look. Next it shows more of the Hulk and Iron Man fight but then the music stops and the screen goes black. Then it shows a knocked out Thor laying next to a broken Captain America shield while Ultron says “There are no strings on me.”

Sadly the trailer didn’t show us the Vision, played by Paul Bettany. This trailer hints at many things but director Joss Whedon gave the biggest clue when he said “Death, death, death.” He possibly could be referring to the time (in comics) when Ultron destroyed a whole fictional nation in Africa. Ultron will be made out of vibranium not adamantium due to film rights. Adamantium is the unbreakable metal that Wolverine’s bones are made out of. Vibranium is a metal that absorbs kinetic energy and it’s what makes up Captain America’s shield. Vibranium is found in the fictional African Nation Wakanda. The movie most likely will reveal a cameo for the nation’s leader T’challa, also known as the superhero Black Panther. Whedon could also be referring to the death of an Avenger. Since Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America have more movies that leaves Hulk, Hawkeye, and Black Widow. Hulk is favored by Marvel fans and he’s virtually indestructible so he most likely won’t die.

Whedon could also be talking about Mistress Death. Thanos, played by Josh Brolin, is a crazy titan and is normally trying to get infinity stones for the Infinity Gauntlet. He is in love with Death so perhaps the movie will show more of  her, she was shown with Thanos in the after-credits of the first Avengers. I feel like Marvel will make twice the amount the first Avengers made, nearly over $1 billion, because it seems very intense. I also am looking forward to the movie being a “good son, bad son” film. What I mean by this is Ultron is the bad son and Vision is the good son.

I will also be looking forward to the after-credit scene. It just may show Thanos having the infinity gems for the Infinity Gauntlet. Perhaps it could show the Avengers disband leading to the Civil War story arc.

The Civil War storyline is about a war between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark about a new law that makes superheroes reveal their identities, but it sadly ends with the death of one of the first Marvel superhero. Spider-Man plays a huge roll in Civil War but since Sony owns rights to Spider-Man film production how will Marvel piece it together. It may show (spoiler ahead) what Idris Elba, whom plays as Heimdall in the Thor films, said. He said that the after credits scene will show Scarlet Witch showing Thor how Loki is disguised as Odin, shown in “Thor: The Dark World,” and Thor will return to Asguard.

We’ll just have to wait until the PG-13 movie comes out on May 1.
