The administrative remake at San Benito High School continued this week with the hiring of former Sonora High School Principal Todd Dearden to take the same post in Hollister. Dearden's unanimous approval by the SBHS Board of Trustees follows the hiring of Superintendent John Perales, who came to Hollister after working in Gilroy, including serving as Christopher High School's founding principal.
Dearden will officially be on the job July 1, as outgoing Principal Krystal Lomanto transitions to her new job as county superintendent of schools — a post she will assume on Jan. 1, 2015.
Dearden served as principal of Sonora High School for seven years, ending in January when he accepted a role as director of special projects and programs within the district through the end of the school year, which ends in June. In a January article posted on www.mymotherlode.com, Superintendent Dr. Mike McCoy cited Dearden's work in Monterey County doing bond projects, including one for a football stadium, as a reason for his new assignment in special projects. San Benito High School has a multi-million-dollar facilities bond on the June ballot.
BenitoLink is awaiting comment from Dearden and will update this story when he is reached.
