No parking restrictions in downtown Hollister during the holidays

Parking restrictions in the historic business district will be lifted through the first week of January

The Hollister Police Department, in conjunction with the Hollister Downtown Association, will offer free parking on all streets and parking lots in the downtown district for the holiday shopping season.

The free holiday parking program will start on Nov. 27 and run through Jan.8, 2016, police said in a press release.

Businesses, merchants and downtown employees are encouraged to park in the Briggs Building parking structure (which offers free parking year-round) or one of the many City of Hollister off-street parking lots that are interspersed downtown to allow for convenience of customer parking on the street.

The Hollister Police Department reminds residents that the Lights on Celebration is on Nov. 28 and will cause an increase in foot traffic all day in the downtown central district. Caution is advised for motorists during the celebration. The Lights on Parade starts at 5:30 p.m.

More information on the Lights on Celebration is available on the HDA website
