On May 3, the Silicon Valley Community Foundation hosted Silicon Valley Gives (SVGives), a day of giving to benefit nonprofit organizations, encompassing Santa Clara, San Mateo, and San Benito counties. SVGives is a 24-hour online event connecting donors to charitable causes that they care about most, and encourages them to take action, and this year, donations throughout the tri-county area reached nearly $8 million.

Thanks to the generosity of local donors, 19 nonprofit endowment funds, held by the Community Foundation for San Benito County, received more than $45,000. In addition, the Community Foundation offered a special $25,000 1:1 match from an anonymous donor.

Small Nonprofit Leaderboard statistics offered by SVGives, after the 24-hour event was completed, placed the Community Foundation in first place for the most dollars raised ($45,910) and second place for the most unique donors (288 individual contributors). In addition, Monterey Peninsula Foundation recognized the Community Foundation for the most unique donors of all the nonprofits located in San Benito County. The Community Foundation is pleased to announce that all prize money will be shared with the nonprofits who had endowment funds eligible the day of giving, raising the total dollars awarded for the day to over $80,000.

Thanks to all of our local donors for making SVGives a huge success again this year. Nonprofits who take part in this annual event, appreciate your spirit of philanthropy. As always, your donation makes a huge difference to the people who live right here in San Benito County.
