Paicines Ranch is preparing for a two-day regenerative agriculture-in-practice workshop Feb. 8 and 9 which is expected to focus on cover cropping and dry farming.

The workshop will bring together farmers, ranchers and other agricultural practitioners “to learn from each other and to see examples of how to grow fuel, food, and fiber in a way that regenerates ecosystems,” said Megan Mendenhall, marketing and communications director for Paicines Ranch. “We began using holistic planned grazing, which is a regenerative practice, around 2008.”

Attendees can take in presentations on topics like cover cropping and integrating livestock into cropland. Farmers and ranchers utilizing regenerative ag practices, which focus on creating healthy soil that works with the local environment, are expected to speak on their experiences.

“The principles of ecosystem health are universal, while regenerative practices on the ground are unique to each region and landscape,” said Elaine Patarini, director of innovation sharing at Paicines Ranch.
