Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Rep. Sam Farr, National Park Service Pacific West Regional Director Christine Lehnertz and Pinnacles National Park Superintendent Karen Beppler-Dorn will be among those gathering to celebrate creation of our nation’s 59th national park — Pinnacles National Park — next Monday, Feb. 11, at the Visitor Center located within the park’s campground.
Pinnacles was created as a national monument in 1908, and became a national park on Jan. 11, when President Obama signed H.R. 3641, sponsored by Rep. Farr and Sen. Barbara Boxer.
Check-in and a reception begin at 2:45 p.m., with the dedication ceremony scheduled for 3:45. for a celebration of our nation’s 59th National Park – Pinnacles National Park. On January 10, 2013, President Obama signed H.R. 3641, sponsored by Rep. Sam Farr and Sen. Barbara Boxer, redesignating Pinnacles National Monument in California as Pinnacles National Park.
