Optional Details:

Join Ranger Sierra Willoughby for a special guided hike in America’s Newest National Park. Let’s explore the great tectonic forces that shaped the land, created the ancient volcanic field, and how thousands of earthquakes and millions of rainstorms have altered the rock formations to the spectacular scenery and myriad habitats that we enjoy today.  The walk will lead through the rare talus cave formations of Bear Gulch and continue past the reservoir and end with a spectacular viewpoint on the high peaks trail.

Hike: 5 ½  miles round trip, 1500 foot elevation gain and is considered strenuous.  Bring:  binoculars, 2 quarts of drinking water, trail lunch, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, hiking boots, and a sense of geologic wonder.  Carpooling is encouraged as the parking lot tends to fill up mid-morning.
