Hollister Police Department arrested a local transient for breaking into a business in the 700 block of Sally Street and battering an employee on Aug. 11, according to a police press release.

HPD responded to the call at about 6:05 a.m. When police arrived, the business manager said he noted the lights were on and several of the interior doors were open. He initially did not think anything of it until he saw the suspect, who was later identified as Angel Aguero, 47.

When the manager confronted Aguero as to what he was doing Aguero repeatedly said he was the owner, according to the press release. A fight ensued and after another employee came to the manager’s aid Aguero ran off.

Officers learned Aguero took items from the break room and was trying to take some equipment. Aguero was found a short time later and was arrested and booked on charges of burglary and battery.
